What’s your favorite land *“JAPAN”* What’s your favorite land '“JAPAN” What’s your favorite land…..you know, TOKYO JAPAN!!!!!! LoL.
When I tell you if I could move and live in Japan for the the rest of of my life tomorrow I would in a heartbeat! I have traveled all over the world but by far this place is the most magical, vibrant, beautiful, cultural place I have ever been. It was as if the city was made just for me, or people like me. If you love fashion and the arts and a little greedy foodie like me then Tokyo is a must for your top cites to visit! And can we speak about how CLEAN the streets are!! Ive never seen anything like it! Not to mention even with the language barrier the people were soooooo nice! They loved us! When I say us I mean Americans but they really love “us” lol I mean black people! They love our culture from the way we talk, dress, move, our hair, our music, just everything about us! I felt so welcome and at home in Japan.I can go on and on for days about why I love it so much but I just want to give you a few things and places to see and do on your trip to visit! Here are some of my top picks:
1. Shibuya, Shinjuku, Roppongi (Best areas to stay, explore, nightlife)
2. Harajuku Shopping District (Takeshita Street)
3. Asakua ( Temples, palaces, shrines)
4. Tokyo Tower (Tokyo City Skyview)
5. Mount Fiji (Tour boat cruise)
6. Shirahama Beach
7. Tokyo Robot Cabaret Show
8. Perrotin Museum (Kaws Exhibit)
9. 1 Oak Nightclub & Club Harlem
10. Tokyo Disneyland
Cardi B. Cardi "WOW" B. Cardi "OMG" B. Cardi "Yaaaaasssss" B. Cardi "GOD is Great" B. Giiiiirrrrrrlllll you have had an amazing year honey. You went from being a young girl from the Bronx, to a stripper, to a reality TV star, to now a famous rap artist. I mean talk about starting from the bottom, lets talk about grind don't stop. Lets talk about pursuing your dreams. Lets talk about living your best life and doing the very best you can while living it!.
If you are not a fan yet, please join the club. She has accomplished so much in a year than a person does in a lifetime and shes just getting started. Her single Bodak Yellow went 3x platinum, First 3 Top 10's on Hot R&B/ Hip Hop song charts on the Billboards, 2 Grammy nominations for Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song just to name a few things.
What makes me so excited about this is that God is soooooo faithful and He is sooooo strategic and He will use whoever He can however He can for His glory. This is a Testimony!! Can somebody scream TESTIMONY!!! The next time you feel like God can't use your life please remember this: Noah was a drunk; Abraham was too old; Isaac was a daydreamer; Jacob was a liar; Joseph was abused; Moses stuttered; Gideon was afraid; Samson was a womanizer; Rehab was a prostitute; Jeremiah & Timothy were too young; David was a murderer & had an affair; Elijah was suicidal; Isaiah preached naked; Jonah ran from God; Naomi was a widow; Job went bankrupt; Peter denied Christ; Martha worried about everything; Zaccheus was too small; Paul was too religious; Timothy had a ulcer; and Lazarus was dead! So trust me when I say God can use Cardi B and He can use you too!
My friend Brandy Kyli said it best on her instagram post a while back. She wrote:
"God is still in business! Everybody wont see " Bodak Yellow" as a testimony but what did I say? People express themselves by what they know and their experiences. My experiences in life may be different but I can relate to a good testimony when I hear one! I can relate to and support a woman being herself and trying to be the best she can be. Unapologetic. A lot of you will sit on your high horse, paralyzed by what other people think of you if you do this or that, questioning what makes you YOU and never attempt to walk out on faith for fear of being judged or rejected but will talk down about someone like Cardi B."
Congrats Cardi! This Regular Degular Shmegular girl from the Bronx is winning! Keep doing you love! Blessings to ya! :)

When I think of role models or people I aspire to be who inspire my desire to be a better version of me I think of these 5 people. Each one of them has indirectly influenced my life in a drastic way.
Let me 1st start with my favorite Mr. 44 himself, MY PRESIDENT, my example of a true leader Barack Obama. He set the tone for how America should be and how great it could be. I'm beyond proud of everything he accomplished and for giving every black boy and girl the courage to believe that they can be anybody or anything they have ever dreamed of being!
Next up is non other than the only FLOTUS I aknowlegded my first lady Michelle Obama who graced the world with her strong, smart, beautiful elegance everywhere she set foot. She always stayed true her beliefs and morals as she stood right beside her man and supported him through it all. Such a inspiration and mentor that any young black girl or any girl could look up to!
The how can I not give thanks to my musically gifted, humbly talented, fashionably iconic, the goat himself Pharrell Williams. Pharrell by far sets the bar high when I think of the best dressed most creatively gifted person in the entertainment industry. I am his number one fan. I would love to just study his mindset and grind and business methods. The best thing about him is his heart, the love he has for people and his passion for music and his eye for fashion is beyond amazing! Plus he FINE!! Helen girl you got one! lol
And how can I speak of fashion and not speak of Iris Apfel, the 96 year old New Yorker style icon plus interior and fashion designer. ( Can I just be like her when I grow up pleeeeasssseeee lol) She has totally challenged the critics of fashion by being bold and brave by wearing bright, vibrant, unique, big, abstract clothing that you can't help but stare at. Iris finds beauty from within and used her clothing & accessories to express who she is. She felt she was ugly on the outside and she created beauty through her fashion designs which shined from within.
Now Iris is'nt the only style icon out there and someone who makes bold statements. Solange Knowles is one of a kind baby, and I definitely am here for it! She is so gifted from her vocals, to her attire, to her hair, to her funky dance moves. Shes most definitely is not afraid to be different. Solange is unapoligeticly black and proud and that's what makes her #GOALS to soooo many people includling me!
These great people inspire me, they are #GOALS in my eyes. so the question is who inspires you??

Today is my last day being 30 years old and what a journey it was been. I remember when I was still 29 getting ready to turn 30 I was so nervous and so anxious and so excited to know what my thirties would bring me. Then on the other hand I was sad because I felt like I was getting old lol I kept saying " I'ma old lady now" Lol. But I must say this year has been one of my best years yet!
I started a new career as a flight attendant for the best airlines around, I reconnected with a old friends, met a lot of amazing new friends and got rid of a lot of bad ones. I strengthened my relationship with God and became more involved with my church, spend wayyyy more time with my family and loved ones, traveled to 7 new countries that I never imagined I would see in this lifetime, and one of my favorite times of 30 was when I became a homeowner of my 1st home.
Chapter 30 has been wonderful to me and such a blessing. As I turn 31 tomorrow and turn the page to that new chapter of life I welcome it with open arms. Chapter 31 lets get it!

That's right, I did it, I chopped it off!! Chopped of my hair that is. As most of you know I've been natural for about 10 years now but even though I looooove my natural curls ya girl loooooves a bone straight part down the middle style just as much. With that style I flat ironed my hair all the time plus I was blonde so that didn't help the health of my hair at all. Over time my beautiful curls started to get looser and looser to the point where pretty much all of my ends were completely straight. For me I feel like what is the point of being natural if I cant rock my hair and curls at its best most natural state.
In that moment I knew what I had to do, I had to chop it all off! I flew down to Dallas, Texas to see my girl Hayia who is super cold at the cuts. Not only does she cut your hair in It's natural state she also cuts in into a shape that best fits your face structure and head. We cut off all the damaged parts and left whatever curls I had left lol. I must say I'm excited for this new hair journey I'm about to begin! Cant wait to see how my hair grows and how my curls transform! :)

When I sit back and think of all the things I want to do with my life and everything I want to accomplish, there is one thing that stays on the the top of my list. That one thing is traveling the world! I have been blessed to be able to visit and explore so many wonderful cities, states, and countries; such as, London, Amsterdam, Paris, Barcelona, Costa Rica just to name a few. However, there is one city out of the bunch that stood out to me the most, Lima, Peru. It was something about it, something magical that happened to me while I was there. I enjoyed the food, the shopping, the music, the people, just the overall culture. The city touched me in a way where it almost felt like I was "home" while there.
When I decided to pack for the trip I wanted to make sure that I had clothing that would reflect the cities beautiful fashions and textiles, and history. As some of you already know I'm gifted with the thrifted hands aka on my Modish Behavior daily. So I brought some beautiful skirts and tops that I found in Washington D.C. a couple weeks ago. (Side note: D.C. is the come-up for thrift finds! Don't say I never told you) They went perfectly together and I graced the city colorfully and blended in and stood out at the same time everywhere I went. I absolutely loved it, and what made it better was I got to experience it with a friend.
God has a way of aligning and connecting people at the perfect time in your life. Even though meeting indirectly through her boyfriend, I met Lorelle and we instantly clicked. Friends at first sight looking selves LMBOOO!!! But in all seriousness I'm so thankful to be friends with this beiauty. Our trip to Lima, Peru far exceeded our expectations from endless laughs, amazing finds and shopping at the Blue Market, speaking fake Spanish to the locals lol, and eating the best Peruvian food evaaaaaaa at La Cumbre. This was by far one of my best trips yet! Cant wait until my next adventure, who's joining me next!?!!? :)

Heyyyy guys! I know it's been a while, sorry been traveling the skies a little too much lately. But its time to get back into the swing of things.
So if you don't already know by now I am a HUGE fan or art!! From actual art design such as sculptures, fashion, art work, textiles, architecture, you name it. As of late I have been infatuated with art illustration. There are so many artists out there that have a way of making their work come alive or just simply catch your eye.
I have a few favorites that I want to share with you, so definitely check them out! I call this group the ILL ILLIES because they are amazing artists and they have the Illest illustrations! Lol (it may sound a lil corny but I thought it was a dope name) :)

Some days I wake up and smile because of how grateful and thankful I am for the many things I've been blessed with. Just the simple ability to open my eyes and see, the ability to open my mouth to say the words "Thank You Lord" are things we take for granted. Each day we get to grace this earth is a new day of opportunity, a new day of purpose.
For the past year and change I've found myself asking the question, "what is my purpose?", " what have I been called to do?" As I've prayed over this subject I came to realize that I already knew the answer. And just like it hit me. Sometimes we tend to try and do things our own way, and follow the paths we've created for ourselves, or even get into a lane that we know God didn't tell us to go in. We often get distracted by the glorious lives, ideas, and things we see people doing on social media and think, "wow, I can do that too, I can do it even better than them". And guess what, you probably can! But what is for you will be for you. Not all things that shine are gold and not all dreams and passions are purpose filled. When you are living with purpose your ideas or visions are crystal clear and you will have tunnel vision. There will be no room for distractions or focus on the lanes next to you but only your own.
While visiting Dallas, Texas I decided not to pack much expect for my bible, journal, and one outfit that's it. For friends who know me and how my closet is set up, and the way I pack for trips, they know how much of a struggle that was for me LOL. I made sooooo many plans with friends to see, museums to visit, and adventures to take. However, when I got there I changed my mind. I put on that one outfit and I decided to find a place in the city to read, write and pray. By far this was one of the most eye opening, liberating days I've had in a while. In less than an hour I had made plans for my life for the next 10 years. I made vividly clear ideas, visions, and plans that were put into place. The best part of these plans was that they were not for my life, well not directly. These plans were for the lives of others, things I could do to be a blessing to anyone with the gifts God has given me and He has given me several gifts! :) I realized when I shifted the focus off of how can I become more successful, and how can I make tons of money, and how can I live the life I've dreamed of. And instead put my focus on, how can I help others be more successful, how can I use my gifts to make my friends, family, and other wealthy and better off, how can I touch as many lives as possible to show them the God I serve and how amazing He is and how much better life is with Him in it. That's when I realized what my purpose was. The feeling of joy I feel knowing that I'm going to use my life to touch others lives is the best feeling ever! And by fulfilling these plans of hope, faith, and love I will be given all of the desires of my heart. The reason I will is by not making the desires of my heart the most important goal, but by making His glory the only goal.
No, I'm not a pastor, or minister, but I am a light for God and I will always use my life and testimonies to share with the world. They say BIG things happen in Dallas, and I must admit I definitely agree because the biggest and best thing happened to me in Dallas, finding my purpose. :)

One day it's hot & sunny & the next day it's a full blizzard! I'm just tryna figure out do I need a scarf on or a sun visor, like foreal lol. This has been the most unpredictable start of spring we've ever encountered. So when it shifts up, you gotta switch up. Your switch game gotta be strong!
When it comes to dressing for the occasion or the weather, simple base peices are the key. Throw on a pair of jeans & a tank top & your good to go! You can dress it down or dress it up, your choice. You can make it classy & chic, or make it street & chill. I guess it all depends on your mood & of course this bipolar weather lol.
Outer garments & layers of clothing can really spice it up & change your look. Here are two different looks with the same base (black jeans & white tank). All I did was change my jackets and each look gives you a unique vibe. This is the battle of the classic black & white trench coat vs. the emerald green faux fur coat. Two different coats, same swag, both $10 for the win! Ayyyyeeee! *does It's LIT dance* lol. Make sure to let me know which look is your favorite on Instagram & be sure to get your switch up game ready too! :)

CONTRAST THEORY: Any theory that tries to explain through principles and examples how objects simultaneously stand apart and interact with each other as opposite/complimentary factors in a larger whole.
I believe that when it comes to decorating each unique piece tells a story of its own. It represents something special, it makes a statement. Just like fashion or art, interior decorating is an expression of who you are, it shows each person who walks into your home a little bit more about you room by room. Even though the furniture or the artwork or the decor may be different colors, shapes, & styles when staging & placing them together it creates a beautiful masterpiece! This is why I named my Interior Decorating & Renovation business Contrast Theory.
From a child I always loved reading books! Skip the toy stores, I just wanted to go to every book store & library around just to sit, read, & explore! As an adult I still enjoy it & have several different kinds of books from religious, to mystery, to motivational, to sci-fi. For me the best part of having books is having a great book shelf. A good friend of mine made me a custom built bookshelf & I could not wait to decorate!
Each item that I placed on my book shelf was with purpose. It represented the artsy, fun, vibrant, colorful person that I am. It made my living room feel complete! And the best part of all, is that with decorating your home you are always constantly changing, adding, & collecting so I can do it all over again & again!. Be sure to follow my interior decorating business page if you want to learn more about decorating, DIY, plus more! :)

When I tell you if your hair is not done or doesn't look good, you do not feel good & your whole day is thrown off lol. Well just know, the struggle is so real when it comes to my hair right now. I have been team natural (no relaxer) since about 2008 so you would think my curl pattern is poppin huh, wrong!! I have had years of pressing my hair bone straight with the swoop over my eye tryna be like baby girl, Aaliyah lol (oh how I miss her). Plus I was completely blonde, not blonde highlights or a little honey blonde I was BLONDE, every shade you could think of. Overall my hair was pretty healthy, thick, full, but when I tried to wear my natural curls those ends were so straight & a mess!
For the last 6 months I have not straightened or put heat on my hair at all, and I'm going to continue that for as long as I need. I even decided to give the color a rest and grew it all out. I truly want my hair to be at its best natural state, and I want my curl pattern to be vibrant, full, bouncy, whatever they want to be. So I've been wearing as many protective & natural styles as I can think of, but my fav go to & easy style are bantu knots. I cant wait to take them out to see how my curls turn out. Until then, I will rock these bantu's til I cant anymore!
I know this may be a long journey but it's one I'm willing to take because ladies our hair is who we are. It's apart of you, it represents your roots, your culture, your heritage. It's the one thing no one can take from you, Solange explains it best in her song "Don't Touch My Hair". Your hair is your crown, wear it with pride, take care of it, protect it, nourish it. As is grows and shines you will grow & shine too! Love your crown ladies, I know I love mine! :)
